- With the gaining in popularity of telecommunications a need
- has risen for games to allow competition amongst fellow users.
- TeleCards For Windows was developed with this concept in mind.

- TeleCards is a suite of 3 different card games: Crazy Eights,
- Cribbage, and Gin Rummy for playing against the computer or a
- friend. To play another person two IBM compatible PC's are
- required running Windows 3.x that are linked together by modem,
- a NULL modem serial cable or are attached to a network.

- Key features found in TeleCards For Windows include:

- * Built in answering and dialing capabilities.

- * The ability to send messages back and forth to your
- opponent while you are playing.

- * A phone book file that contains both hardware specs and
- a list of up to 16 opponents with scores and dates called.

- * Ability to save and to restart games previously saved.

- * Use of different card back designs.

- * Support for COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4 and baud rates up to 14400.

- * The computer as an opponent.

- * Network play.

- INSTALLATION PROCESS:
- ---------------------
- Please use the appropriate uncompressing program to place
- the distributed TeleCards For Windows files into a separate
- subdirectory.

- START-UP:
- ---------
- Start TeleCards For Windows by either double-clicking the
- TeleCards For Windows icon or highlight the icon and press ENTER.

- An additional method to start TeleCards would be to select 'RUN'
- from the Program Manager's FILE menu and highlight TCW.EXE from
- the appropriate directory.

- For additional program information select the HELP button (if
- available) or press F1 during a game.

- July 1994: Version 1.0 released.
- August 1994: Version 1.1 released. Added ability to redial
- phone after bad connection and change a players
- name at start of game against the computer.
- October 1994: Version 1.6 released. Added list of modem
- initialization strings; switched from .BOK file
- to TCW.INI; fixed misc. errors; enhanced HLP file.
- March 1995: Version 1.85 released. Added auto-sort feature,
- Scores Hall of Fame, ability to change background
- color, added shuffling cards sound.
